Co-Ed Softball Rules -
We us A.S.A. rules unless otherwise stated
Please Note - Coaches please ask every player to read this
before they step on the field. It will help the flow of the game
What we consider the 3 most important rules:
1) You must RSVP - yes, no or maybe, at least 2 days before
your game, every game (if you are on the Team Cowboy site,
you'll get 2 reminders and it takes 30 seconds). The league is
dedicated to making sure that each team has 10 players on the
field. If you have not RSVP'ed by 2 days before your game and
your team has less than 10, I will get a sub for you.
2) If you are on a "house" team, you CANNOT bring
unregistered players to play in your game. Teams must have a
roster by game two and also, cannot bring non roster players to
play. A team and/or coach will be penalized for doing this
3) I will soon provide a list of safety rules. Most of them entail
avoiding contact at all times
CONDUCT RULES:
We want a family atmosphere at the games
1) There is no swearing even if it's at yourself
2) There is no manipulating, bad talk, or any action of bad
sportspersonship to the other team, the umpires, and your
teammates. If someone else starts something, take the high
road, and just report it to the league office.....we are very
proactive with our no tolerence policy.
3) There will be representation at all or almost all games.
However, any type of protest or league complaint will NOT be
heard at the game. We will not overturn any calls during a game.
We will listen to your concerns from Monday thru Friday from 10
am to 4 pm and welcome you to call. Please note that our
umpire will handle the situation, and the league will use all
sources to get the accurate version of the conflict.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR LEAGUES THE MOST WELL
MANNERED COMPETITION
GAME RULES:
By signing up for a team sport, we believe it is every players
obligation to get to your game as early as you can, so the coach
can make out the lineup. It is a good idea to stretch out, as well.
Sometimes it is impossible to get there early, but please respect
our games start times.
There is a five minute grace period, but we must start the
games at that point even if you have people on the way or in the
parking lot. If you do not have the minimum, the game will be a
forfeit (which would be a major problem)
You cannot start an inning, one hour and fifteen minutes from
the SCHEDULED game time.
There is no mercy rule - time limits will take precedent.
Reminder - there are no subs that aren't authorized by the
league - eligible to play
Game balls are provided by the league. the visiting team must
supply back up balls. Players that hit balls out of play, that are
not retrievable, must replace them
Scorebooks will be provided by the league
Rain outs - the rainout line will be put on here for your
applicable parks department. They have the first say. If they say
the games are off - done deal regardless if the weather changes.
Also, they may say that certain fields are good, and other fields
are not - so you need to know what your field # is. I will list the
respective phone #'s for your league. If the games are on. but
the weather changes - then call 206-420-4625 for the update(s). If
it is an old recording, then the games are On. On a strange
weather day, this line will be constantly updated....also note, all
rained out games will be attempted to be made up, but might be
difficult to make up on the same day of the week as your games.
We will be fair to everyone and make sure you get whats
promised.
BATTING:
YOU CAN BAT EVERYONE - With the following situations:
You can bat 3 males in a row - twice - in your line up (in a row
includes bottom to top)
You must bat at least 3 women or if you have 2, you must take
an out in the 4th spot in your lineup, OR bat one of your two
women twice in the order
There is no bunting, stealing, leadoff or crying
If you have too many males to bat all of them, you may platoon
(example - say in the second spot in the line up, one guy bats
first time in the order, other guy bat second time in the order,
then rotate)...or, you can pinch hit, but the batter replaced.
cannot come back on offense.
We start on a 0-0 count. We like when our umps calls strikes,
so come to the game ready to swing the bat.
If you have 2 strikes on your count, then any foul is an out.
We use the 12'' ball for males, 11'' ball for females.
HR rule applies only to fields with fences. It is a one
progressive, meaning your team can only have hit one more HR
than the other team. If you are already one up, and you hit one
over the fence, it is a single, runners advance one base.
If a male player is walked on 4 and 0, and there is a female
player following in the order, the female player has the option to
bat or to go to first, advancing forced runners, one base. (it is
not necesarily 4 straight pitches, it HAS to be a 4 and 0.
Only A.S.A. approved bats are legal to use. If you have any
questions, please ask. I would google the asa bat list. I have
found that people that use an illegal bat know it - please don't or
there will be a penalty.
You must always have a batter on deck.
IN THE FIELD
There are warmups only before your first inning and for a
replacement pitcher THERE ARE NO WARMUPS BETWEEN
INNINGS
You can play any gender in any spot
If you only have 2 females, you must play only 7 males. If you
ask the other team nicely, they may supply a catcher for you, but
you must cover home plate yourselves.
There is no encroachment rule
Pitching arc is 5 1/2 Ft to 10 ft
COACHES
It is very important to know your team count, 2 days before
your game. I can get you subs (during the regular season) if you
are short. If you do get subs and your players that did not rsvp
show up, you must prioritize the subs.
Please instruct your players on the importance of showing up
BEFORE the game starts
I will give you as much time as you need, during the week, for
conflicts and complaints THEY WILL NOT BE ACKNOWLEDGED
AT THE GAMES
Please let me help you - coaching is a thankless job. The
integrity of any league is dependant on the leadership and
coaching
LASTLY - I would like to thank you for your support as well as
bringing your good attitude to our games. The way we look at it,
if you play the sport you love, on a sunny day, around good
people - your getting alot!............
REMEMBER - IT'S ONLY A GAME!!!!
